The Soul of Human Character
My children remind me of the excitement of looking forward to new life at the beginning of spring.
Usually, they will witness a blossom or two that have through the dirt and reached another realm. Nature's ability to evolve transforms what begins as a seedling or bulb.
Everyone of us possesses a hidden awareness, identity, and capacity to develop beyond our outward appearance. We are constantly being pushed by people and other factors to improve our current standard of living.
To move toward our highest good takes a willingness on our part to let go of what we know to what can be known in and through us. You and I are part of the Created Order we see around us, and we are participants in Creating Order out of what we have been given to care for.
With this in mind, let us turn to ways our soul can be described in the characteristics that make up a flower:
1. The Surface.
A flower is nourished, safeguarded, and born in the ground. Long before we can see it, life begins establishing itself inside the earth's womb. It doesn't necessarily follow that life is not being formed just because we can't see a flower that has been planted in the ground. Being totally rooted and connected to the world we have been given is what it means to be full participants in it.
2. The Stem
The stem starts out by growing into the ground below and the sky above. This component of the flower serves as the plant's identifying trait. We exist in this planet without really being a part of it, much like humans. Our lives become more holy as a result. That is a speciality of ours. It is our unique ability to live and grow in a way no one ever has, is, or ever will.
3. The Flower
A flower is the illumination of all life when it is in full bloom. Life is created by the brightness and colour that emanate from it. The next time you look at a flower, pay attention to how it affects you. You might feel your heart widen and overflow with excitement. Conversely, you can have increased vitality and clarity in your vision due to your exceptional luck with regard to beauty.
4. The Flower's Spirit.
The vital power flowing through and within of a flower is known as its spirit. It is a flower's essence that resonates with your spirit. This aspect of you unites with the spirit of a flower and expands from the inside out. It is the same energy that runs in and through you. Like a flower, you begin to radiate your own soul from the essence of your own being.
Spend some time each spring observing the area of yourself that is reviving. We develop from the inside out, just like flowers do. Everything that shines in our lives originates within of us. We cultivate these innate attentional traits until they eventually take hold and permeate every aspect of our existence. What we attend to or focus on within ourselves is what leads to the growth that follows.
We establish a presence of consciousness, much like a flower's pedals do when they open to the environment. When in full bloom, everyone in our immediate vicinity is affected by beauty or lack thereof.
The world illuminates the seeds of awareness that have been hidden within us for such a long time as our inner patterns of attention move through us. A life is conceived here. It gives our soul vitality.
